  • Recommendations to Get the Most from “CATCH THE WAVE: 90 Days to a New Experience with Christ”

    1. Read your Devotional and answer questions at an “appointed” time with God each day.
      2. Let God show you places you should change or repent in your life.
        3. Take notes on each sermon.
          4. Be active in at least 2 small groups for the 90 Days. (Sunday School is a small group. Ask the staff or the Ministry Help Desk about other groups.)
            5. Use the 90 days to identify your spiritual gifts, interests, and talents.
              6. Commit yourself to the ministry that is best for you.
                7. Celebrate the life that God wants for you.

Friday, Nov. 30 — Remembered at Christmas

The Christmas season is a  wonderful time to remember friends and to be remembered.  Cards and gifts are just a way of saying, “You are important to me.”
Our Holiday sermon series this season is “Looking for Christmas.”  Very soon people will be sending cards and exchanging gifts.  These fun activities are based upon a deep [...]

Thursday, Nov. 29 — Finding Strength

It is hard to believe that it was only a week ago that I was in the hospital with asthma.  Today I am breathing better.  I only had one nebulizer treatment yesterday, rather than four.  Yesterday I finished the steroids and today I finish the antibiotic.  So now I am on a maintenance plan to [...]

Wednesday, Nov. 28 — The Shepherd’s Strength

Have you ever thought about the words of the 23rd Psalm:
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
These word’s refer to the shepherd’s strength to care for the sheep.  The shepherd knows how to use the “rod” to ward off predators.  The shepherd uses the “staff” to maintain [...]

Tuesday, Nov. 27 — A Fresh Breath

Did you see your breath yesterday morning?  I like the picture of the bird seeing its breath.
It is good to get a fresh breath of air.  The damp day yesterday was ideal for helping me breathe better.  Thank each of  you for the ongoing cards and emails.  Thank you for your concern.  Asthma is scary.  [...]

Monday, Nov. 26 — Just Like Sheep

We have been compared to many things in life.  Guys like the strong comparisons, “strong as an ox,” etc.  Some people like to be referred to as “light as a feather.”  Or, “She eats like a bird.”  But who likes to be compared to a sheep?
Now don’t get me wrong, I think the pastoral scene of [...]

Friday, Nov. 23 — Thanks for Your Prayers

I appreciate the prayers, notes, visits, and acts of kindness while I was in the hospital over Thanksgiving.  Wednesday afternoon I had a major bout with asthma that put me in the local ICU for a night and in a regular hospital room for another day.  I usually keep asthma under control through controlling my [...]

Promises

Promises kept are encouraging and build love and confidence.  Broken promises are discouraging and damage love and destroy confidence.  These statements are true for marriages, for friendships, for all relationships — including our relationship with God.
Do we keep our promises to God?  I believe we try to.  There seem to be “extenuating” circumstances that some [...]

“The Well”

The Well: Discovering Together God’s Purposes is the new title and sub-title for our blog.
I am committed to the “well” image because of an experience with my grandfather as a child. My brother and I were hunting blackberries with Grandpa one hot summer day. We had not taken water with [...]
