  • Recommendations to Get the Most from “CATCH THE WAVE: 90 Days to a New Experience with Christ”

    1. Read your Devotional and answer questions at an “appointed” time with God each day.
      2. Let God show you places you should change or repent in your life.
        3. Take notes on each sermon.
          4. Be active in at least 2 small groups for the 90 Days. (Sunday School is a small group. Ask the staff or the Ministry Help Desk about other groups.)
            5. Use the 90 days to identify your spiritual gifts, interests, and talents.
              6. Commit yourself to the ministry that is best for you.
                7. Celebrate the life that God wants for you.

God, You Handle It!

Did you ever get so tired that you just could not cope with another thing?  Most of us do.  It may be that we get so overwhelmed that we can’t or don’t want to pray.
You say, “That’s a bad shape to be in!  A Christian not wanting to pray!”  All of us at times can [...]

The Prayer of Faith — When We Feel Unworthy

To pray believing not just “that” God will answer but knowing He will answer!  Wouldn’t that be wonderful?  That seems to be the description of the Prayer of Faith — a prayer made with the knowledge that God will answer.
But what if I feel unworthy to offer a Prayer of Faith?  Will God still hear [...]

A New Prayer Thought — The Prayer of Faith

One of the more controversial forms of prayer is one labeled the “Prayer of Faith.”   Various Scriptures have been used for this concept.  Discussion is divided about whose faith makes a difference in the prayer — the faith of the one praying or the faith of the one being prayed for.
Today, look with me at [...]

Seek the Lord

Let me share an interesting phrase used several times in the Old Testament and once quoted in the New Testament — “seek the Lord.”  This phrase describes those hungry for a personal relationship with God.
As an example of this, we listen as Isaiah 55:6 challenges us:
“Seek the LORD while he may be found;
       call on [...]

Letting Your Story Flow

With all  the talk about “defining moments” and “God experiences,” some may be apprehensive that they cannot live up to these expectations.  Discussions like this may seem like we can never accomplish them in our lives.  Maybe a preacher or a Sunday School teacher or some kind of saint.  But an ordinary person like me?!?!
There [...]

“Defining Moments” in Our God Stories

A term that has become popular in recent years is “defining moment.”   Although this could be defined in a variety of  ways, I use the definition that “defining moments” are those times in our lives where God’s preparation and opportunity meet to provide a meaningful God experience for others, for the church, or for ourselves.  [...]

Living in Our God Story

“She’s living out a fairy tale!” I once overheard a woman say of a young lady who seemed to have everything going her way.  It seems impossible to always live a fairy-tale life.  But what about always living the Christian life?  Why is it easier to live a Christian life than a fairy tale life?
Fairy [...]

Using Our God Stories

For most of us, witnessing is tough to do.  We are always afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing.  Let me encourage you to try something.  Use your salvation experience of your “God story” as a tool for witnessing.  Let me explain.
In a conversation with a person who is not a Christian or not [...]
