  • Recommendations to Get the Most from “CATCH THE WAVE: 90 Days to a New Experience with Christ”

    1. Read your Devotional and answer questions at an “appointed” time with God each day.
      2. Let God show you places you should change or repent in your life.
        3. Take notes on each sermon.
          4. Be active in at least 2 small groups for the 90 Days. (Sunday School is a small group. Ask the staff or the Ministry Help Desk about other groups.)
            5. Use the 90 days to identify your spiritual gifts, interests, and talents.
              6. Commit yourself to the ministry that is best for you.
                7. Celebrate the life that God wants for you.

“Teach Me Your Ways”

Exodus 33:12-14

Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’  If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may [...]

“He Wanted To See Who Jesus Was”

Luke 19:3
“He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd. “

The story of Zacchaeus could be the story of many of us.  Shunned because of his height and his profession as a tax collector, Zacchaeus wanted to be included.  When he heard Jesus was coming to [...]

“Wanting Something More”

2 Kings 2:9

When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha,
“Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?”
“Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,” Elisha replied.

I..It is easy to become satisfied with our walk with God.
II.  It is difficult to stay fresh in our walk with God.
III.  We [...]

“A Military Man Who Asked for More”

Acts 10:33
“So I sent for you immediately, and it was good of you to come.
Now we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us.”
Acts 10 contains the remarkable story of the transformation of two men.  Peter’s attitude toward Gentiles is changed by a [...]

“A Jailer Who Asked for More”

Acts 16:30
He then brought them out and asked,
“Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
One of the most moving scenes in a movie made from a novel is when Oliver goes to the bailiff in the orphanage dining room with an empty porridge bowl and asks, “Please sir, may I have some more?”  Hunger for [...]

“God’s Call, Our Response”

Isaiah 6:8
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
“Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I.  Send me! “
God is at work in the world.  His message is being proclaimed around the world.  How does He do it?  Except in angelic announcements and Balaam’s donkey’s prophecy, God [...]

SBC Convention Reflections

I have not attended the Southern Baptist Convention every year.  Various conflicts have kept me from going.  It was a great opportunity to have the convention here in Kentucky.  The Pastor’s Conference had preacher after preacher who spoke dynamically to current situations in the church and in Baptist life.  The Convention followed suit with a [...]

“Divine Prenatal Planning”

Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah has often been called the “Weeping Prophet.”  Ezekiel in Exile and Jeremiah in Jerusalem exemplify the trials that prophets face.  Jeremiah continuously was prophesying to an unresponsive audience.  He [...]
