I Corinthians 3:5-9
What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.
People sometimes say, “We are all in this together!” That is true for the Christian life. We are in the Christian life – all together.
Factions or groups tend to form in any group of people. At the Corinthian church factions were forming based on who had baptized the believer. The group lines were crying out “I am of Apollos!” or “I am of Paul!” Paul brings the correcting word that everyone is the same, “Only servants.” Each person has a God-given role. Paul concludes with the statement, “For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.”
Personal ministry is important in our Christian growth. It is one example of the fruit we are called to bear in our lives. No matter what it is we do, every ministry is important to God. We are God’s fellow workers. When we recognize the importance of what we do for God we begin to find joy in ministry.
Bear fruit in your Christian life! Find your ministry and become a co-laborer.
